Xtrem Triathlon

DESCRIPTION

Swimming takes place over a distance of 3.8 km. It is a true open-water crossing, from one shore of the lake to the other.

Cycling covers 180 km, crossing the entire Val Camonica and warming up the legs on the Aprica Pass, the Mortirolo Pass (from the less demanding side), and the legendary Gavia Pass.
The second Transition Zone is located in Ponte di Legno, a renowned tourist destination in the upper valley. The transition area is set right in the historic town centre.

Running is a 38.5 km trail run, almost entirely on dirt paths, winding along the trails of the Upper Valley. The course starts at an elevation of 1,200 metres at T2 and climbs progressively to 2,600 metres at the finish line at Passo Paradiso, passing through the checkpoint located in Ponte di Legno.

The Ponte di Legno checkpoint represents the turning point of the race: athletes who reach it within the time limit may continue towards the final ascent to Passo del Tonale and subsequently to Passo Paradiso; those who fail to meet the required time will instead be diverted onto an alternative course leading to the lower finish line in Ponte di Legno.

High finish – Stone finisher at Passo Paradiso, 2,600 m a.s.l., by 24:00.

Low finish – Wood finisher in Ponte di Legno, 1,200 m a.s.l., by 24:00.

SWIM COURSE 3.8 KM

The start is scheduled for 4:00 a.m., from the opposite shore of Lake Iseo with respect to the transition area, in the town of Predore. Athletes will be transported to the start by boat.

The course follows a straight line across the lake. The buoy positioned on the opposite shore is marked by a powerful beacon pointing skyward. A second beacon will indicate the swim exit point.

BIKE COURSE 175 KM - 4100 m D+

A 180 km journey crossing the entire Valle Camonica, with a total positive elevation gain of 4,100 m. After approximately 75 km, the course reaches Edolo, where athletes face the first of three mountain passes: Aprica Pass (1,176 m a.s.l.). The climb then continues toward the legendary Mortirolo Pass (1,852 m a.s.l.).

The steep descent of this iconic pass leads back down the valley to Monno, before a gentle climb toward Ponte di Legno. Riders pass through the historic town center of Ponte di Legno (km 140 – 1,200 m a.s.l.), where a refreshment station and the first major crowd support await.

From here begins the ascent to the legendary Gavia Pass, reaching an altitude of 2,621 m. A turnaround point is located at the pass, followed by the final descent to the transition area, set in the heart of Ponte di Legno.

RUN COURSE 38.5 KM - 2200 m D+

The running course is a 38.5 km trail run on dirt paths along the trails of the upper Val Camonica. The route climbs from 1,200 m a.s.l. at T2, located in the historic centre of Ponte di Legno, up to 2,600 m a.s.l. at the finish line at Passo Paradiso.

The first 20 km follow a highly undulating course, not to be underestimated, in the area of Ponte di Legno and along the valley floor. The route passes through the hamlets of Zoanno, Precasaglio and Villa Dalegno, then crosses to the opposite side of the valley through the centre of Temù. From here it climbs to the Valbione area (1,500 m a.s.l.) and descends back to Ponte di Legno, where the checkpoint is located and represents the turning point of the race. Athletes who reach the checkpoint within the time limit may continue towards the final ascent to Passo del Tonale and subsequently to Passo Paradiso; those who fail to meet the required time limit will instead have to retrace part of the previous course to complete the remaining 17 km leading to the lower finish line.

High finish – Stone finisher at Passo Paradiso, 2,600 m a.s.l., 38.5 km – 2,200 m D+, by 24:00.

Low finish – Wood finisher in Ponte di Legno, 1,200 m a.s.l., 22.5 + 17 = 39.5 km – 1,400 m D+, by 24:00.
